Responsibilities

• Coordinates program implementation activities and documents lessons learned.
• Follows up on activities for completion of a plan or seeks collaborative input from colleagues internal and external to the Program Implementation team.

Contributions

• Workplan: articulation of detailed costed work plan and activity plan that track outputs

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, Communications or related area with 6 years of relevant work experience in the digital, peacebuilding or NGO sector; OR Master’s Degree with 4 years of relevant experience) in the digital, peacebuilding, or NGO sector.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills in English.
• Prior work experience of policy influencing on Safe and Accessible internet, TFGBV, Climate/ Peace/Security Nexus conflict sensitivity, peacebuilding or the digital Peace Building sector.

Internship Terms

Internship Assignments

Position Summary

• Search for Common Ground’s Africa Program Development Hub is seeking program development interns who will support the team in the development of successful proposals and concept notes that will contribute to building peace across the African continent.
• The interns will join a high-performing, diverse, and dynamic team based in Europe, East and West Africa, who are passionate about designing impactful programs in 17 countries across the Sahel region, the Lake Chad Basin, the Great Lakes, the Horn of Africa, Tanzania-Mozambique, and the Sudans. Program development commences with scoping and pre-positioning for potential funding opportunities, and completes with the signing of a project award. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to the different stages of program development: from writing proposals and concept notes, engaging with local and international partners, and supporting donor engagement. Each intern will be assigned a geographic region, but may be requested to support other countries within the Africa portfolio.
• Please note that this internship is based in Kenya (Mombasa office or remote) or anywhere in francophone Africa (office or remote)**

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of proposals, including but not limited to writing proposal narratives, developing theories of change, articulating program activities, drafting logical frameworks and copy-editing.
• Contribute to the development of up-to-date and accurate context statements through rigorous desk research.
• Support the development of fundraising strategies.
• Analyze calls for proposals and support the team’s pre-positioning efforts, including research on and outreach to potential partners.

The Regional Program Team:

• The Programs team oversees the management of restricted grants to drive impact and ensure compliance. It supports in-country Directors and Managers in effectively adhering to Search and donor policies and procedures regarding grant implementation. This function spans from the signing of a grant to its final close-out, encompassing monitoring, reporting, and, when necessary, engagement with donors. The Programs team collaborates closely with other departments, including Finance, Institutional Learning, Strategy Alignment, Program Quality, Communications, and Human Resources. It aims to enhance program implementation capacity within Search and among partner staff in-country.
