About the role:

• The scope of the role is: OU( Africa Operating Unit) Route to Market (RTM) Safety leadership and ensuring execution of fundamental safety program in RTM space: the Coca-Cola Operating Requirements (KORE), Life Saving Rules, Road Safety programs.
• The role has direct impact and influence over the development of the most optimum OU RTM Safety strategy and implementation plan in line with the global strategy and TCCS(Coca-Cola Company) commitments to protect our people and enhance our OU and regional reputation.
• The strategic footprint of the role spans from OU operations connecting end-to-end the design, and partner pillars, set regional goals and roadmap for achieving RTM Safety goals and culture in collaboration as “One Safety LT” vision.
• The role is responsible for the OU RTM Safety OPEX/CAPEX decisions.

What You will Do:

The RTM Safety Lead will operate and lead as an indispensable member of the OU QSE leadership team as the RTM Safety leader role reporting directly to OU Safety and Risk Senior Director. The RTM Safety Lead will have clear accountability to coordinate the RTM Safety agenda cross functionally across OU, with Technical Operations, Customer & Commercial and Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability..

The following areas define the key focus of the role:

• RTM Safety and Health strategy: As a key member of the OU QSE leadership team, ensure within the global occupational Safety and health strategy and commitments the most optimum and accelerated implementation of the OU occupational Safety strategy. Define and steward the RTM Safety strategy, OU and Regional commitments, initiatives and prioritization to implement the global RTM Safety agenda. Ensure accelerated progress of the RTM Safety systems and programs while ensuring best-in-class leadership through partnership, governance and innovation across the supply chains. In collaboration with Corporate, Technical Innovation & Supply Chain functional heads, Customer & Commercial, Franchise Bottlers, Occupational Safety Lead influences the OU and regional RTM Safety agenda and investments.
• Governance, and fundamental RTM programs implementation: Ensure all license to operate and KORE RTM safety requirements, OU governance are in place in line with the global governance framework requirements.
• Innovation: Ensure occupational RTM Safety innovation initiatives. Lead the implementation support for all RTM Safety aspects that protects our people and enhances our regional and corporate reputation.
• OU Safety and Health network orchestration: Drive organizational alignment on operational RTM Safety across Regions, Bottling partners and Corporate S&E. Active contributor in the Global S&E Council. Champion KO(Coca-Cola) RTM Safety and overall Culture and Strategies in the Regions to enable execution and culture development. Bring the external view in, drive external engagement and benchmarking, ensure leadership presence in industry associations.
• RTM Safety culture and performance excellence: Lead the RTM Safety culture transformation to ensure excellence is a core value embedded in everything we do across the system. The RTM Safety Lead will direct the overall OU RTM Safety culture transformation to build and manage the excellence performance enablement systems and programs. Responsible to improve performance that accelerates business results and demonstrates a high capacity to manage risk as evaluated by our Global Audit Organisation (GAO) and our OU processes.
• Capability:  The RTM Safety Lead will be instrumental in developing and enhancing safety capabilities within bottling partners to support the effective implementation of RTM Safety systems and standards. This includes orchestrating and facilitating training programs, providing technical guidance, establishing capability action plans in the regions, and ensuring the alignment of bottler operational RTM Safety capability programs with the global framework.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor the implementation of the non-conformance program. Final decision on rejections lies with the QAT.
• Ensure that the Sanitation Matrix is adhered to and ensure that data is reviewed by the QAQC.
• Review all quality related Data review and ensure that daily data review routines are kept by QAQC’s and team leaders. Implement corrective action for data integrity issues.
• Ensure that all quality related packaging and ingredient problems are properly documented, reported to the suppliers via procurement and review corrective action plans presented by suppliers.
• Review suitability of level 1 and level 2 Quality KPI’s for SC Ways teams.

MANAGE THE QUALITY AND LABORATORY ENVIRONMENT

• Leads the CCBA QAQC function
• Manage laboratory Equipment and Consumables
• Ensure that SPC and Capability Surveys as well as Trade Quality and age surveys are done at required frequencies.
• Oversee specialised testing e.g. Micro. Ensure that results are reviewed and assist production team leaders with trouble shooting and resolving of micro issues in the plant

•  Ensure that RCA processes relating to quality issues address the relevant root cause. Assist production teams with this process where required.
• Review quality issue trends and ensure that the appropriate RCA process is followed where basic RCA processes does not address the issues.

MANAGE SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and procedures and applicable

Key Purpose Statement 

• The Fleet Artisan is responsible for ensuring safe and uninterrupted operation of the vehicle and forklift equipment through repairs on the frame and bodywork of cars and other vehicles. This role reports to Fleet Controller.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

• Execute planned maintenance activities.
• Perform routine checklist and report all abnormalities to the Fleet Controller.
• Carry out maintenance and repairs as per works order.
• Provide breakdown support.
• Carry out diagnosis to ascertain vehicle defects before setting out to repair.
• Ensure breakdowns are repaired with the minimum productive downtime.
• Constant evaluation done on vehicles/forklifts to detect abnormalities.
• Reduce vehicle breakdowns and downtime through quality work.
• Conduct regular basic awareness to all company vehicle users to ensure proper asset care.

Skills, Experience & Education    

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Nationally qualified as a vehicle mechanic and a panel beat.
• Bodyworks and frame repair skills will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 3 years experience in a fleet maintenance workshop.
• Knowledge of car mechanics.

• The primary role of the Process Artisan is operation of the process area according to work instructions, the execution of non-destructive quality checks and carrying out of routine maintenance. The process artisan has a primary focus on the asset care activities of the team. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

• Provide support to the shift based teams during operations.
• Assist shift based teams with situational problem solving.
• Carry out work during the planned maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the Planner.
• Where required, partake in maintenance post mortems to feedback problems, opportunities and learning’s from maintenance activities.

• Partake in the development of the asset care plan for the packaging plant, contributing suggestions and providing expert advice.

• Support the implementation of the Predictive Maintenance Strategy, including the Condition Monitoring program

• Manage Contracted-out maintenance services by ensuring that the service supplied is in strict accordance with supply scheme contract and that of service and product reliability, quality, cost and the service providers own employee behaviour is acceptable while on site.
• Safety and Housekeeping
• Ensure that the team members apply proper safety and housekeeping procedures, and adhere to all legal requirements when carrying out their tasks.
• Ensure adherence to the appropriate CCBA and legislative policies (such as OSH act) on safety and housekeeping.
• Ensure all statutory and mandatory checks are part of the asset care management system, are performed and all documentation completed and recorded.
• Ensure that health, safety and housekeeping receive appropriate focus through regular checks and audits, with appropriate monthly/quarterly meetings.
• Where unsafe work practices have been identified, the Maintenance Controller is responsible for correcting this.

Key Purpose Statement

• The primary role of the process operator is operation of the process area according to work instructions, the execution of destructive and non-destructive quality checks and carrying out of autonomous maintenance. The process operator has a primary focus on the quality control activities of the team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

• Evaluate equipment conditions and recommend corrective action to maintenance staff.
• Run equipment at recommended speeds to meet demand and maximise equipment efficiency.
• Provide second level support on equipment maintenance and breakdowns
• Manage equipment upgrades and technological changes on respective machinery or equipment.
• Guarantee high hygiene requirements on respective equipment and ensure similar hygienic hand over to incoming colleagues.
• Comply with the Company’s quality system / requirements.
• Maintain safety, health, environment and quality standards at area of work and ensure the equipment is in similar state to guarantee safety and quality.
