Senior Tax & Compliance Officer

About the role:

• BURN is looking for a Senior tax & compliance officer responsible for tax and statutory compliance for BURN entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare the necessary paperwork for monthly and annual tax, levies & statutory return filings and payments.
• Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations for VAT, WH VAT & WHT;
• Assist in lodging and follow up on VAT refunds with the revenue authorities;
• Ensure the Group’s’ internal processes are compliant with the existing tax laws by monitoring tax development at local and national levels;
• Maintain a monthly returns’ calendar;
• Serving as a liaison between regulators, revenue authorities and internal/external auditors concerning deliverables from the tax and compliance department;
• Recommend tax-efficient business structures for existing and new businesses;
• Ensure BURN Group transfer pricing policy is followed in all intra-group transactions;
• Research and updating the Group on new and emerging changes in applicable tax & statutory laws and regulations and practices across all Jurisdictions;
• Follow up with Revenue Authorities for issuance of WHT certificates;
• Ensure complete documentation of relevant supports and proof of tax remittance;
• Assist in compiling and presenting supporting documentation during Revenue Authority and other regulatory bodies audits; and
• Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Company.

Qualifications and Education Background

• Relevant Degree, CPA or equivalent
• 5+ years’ work experience in taxation & compliance in a big 4 or Multinational
• Technical skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with ERP systems – preferably Microsoft NAV
• Excellent spoken and written English skills, preferable knowledge of French
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment
