Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Develop and implement hospital-wide quality assurance policies, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international healthcare quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular audits, quality assessments, and risk management reviews.
  • Oversee the implementation of patient safety protocols and infection prevention control measures.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies such as the Kenya Medical Practitioners and
  • Dentists Council (KMPDC), Ministry of Health, and accreditation agencies.
  • Investigate patient complaints, adverse events, and sentinel events, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Establish and oversee clinical governance structures and quality improvement committees.

Facility Outreach Services

  • Develop and implement strategies for expanding outreach healthcare services to underserved communities.
  • Oversee the operationalization of outreach clinics and community-based health programs.
  • Collaborate with county and national government health departments, NGOs,
  • and other stakeholders to strengthen outreach services.
  • Monitor the impact and effectiveness of outreach programs, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s strategic goals.
  • Lead health promotion and education initiatives to improve community health outcomes.

Performance Management and Training

  • Provide leadership in continuous medical education (CME) and training for staff on quality improvement and best practices.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms to track quality improvement progress.
  • Work with departmental heads to drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and excellence in service delivery.
  • Foster a patient-centered approach to healthcare service provision.

Requirements for appointment

  • Bachelor's degree in Medicine (MBChB) or a related healthcare field.
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare management, with at least 5
  • years in a senior leadership role in quality assurance or hospital operations.
  • Proven experience in implementing quality management systems in healthcare settings.
  • Strong knowledge of national healthcare policies, standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Experience in community health programs and outreach services is an added advantage.
  • Training in healthcare Quality assurance added advantage
