Role Overview:

  • Roots Africa is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst Fellow with an actuarial sciences background. This fellowship is an opportunity for a talented individual to work closely with our team, developing computational models in Excel to support business decisions and drive growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the African property market and a passion for empowering the diaspora.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the African property market.
  • Develop and maintain computational models in Excel to analyse financial data, property valuations, and investment returns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into analytical models and actionable insights.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support the team in developing business strategies and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to benchmark Roots Africa’s offerings and identify areas for differentiation.
  • Assist in preparing financial forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the technology team to integrate data analytics tools and automate reporting processes.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in developing complex computational models in Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with the African property market or a strong interest in learning about it.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in business analysis, financial modelling, or similar roles is a plus.
