Agricultural Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS Kenya seeks to recruit a knowledgeable agricultural advisor to guide the HIAS Accommodation Centre on effective and sustainable smart farming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide technical guidance and training on best practices and the use of new agricultural technologies including Urban farming technologies
• Assessing soil and crops, and providing advice on the best farming practices
• Advising HAC on crop selection based on soil, weather, and market conditions
• Recommending suitable agricultural products like fertilizers and pest control measures
• Advise on pest and disease control, post-harvest handling, and natural resource conservation
• Preparing reports and keeping updated records.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• A Degree in agriculture or related course.
• Extensive knowledge of agricultural science, including crop management, and a keen interest in research and development
• Experience in smart farming
• Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations.
• Knowledge of PSEA.
