Role Summary

The Safety and Security Officer (SSO) at Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi, will be responsible for ensuring a robust safety and security environment. Working closely with the Safety and Security Manager, the SSO will implement risk-based strategies, policies and procedures aligned with Aga Khan Development Network standards. The role entails maintaining strategic safety measures, liaising with local stakeholders, and overseeing risk management for school operations, trips, and events to support the Head of the Academy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct written risk assessments and provide actionable recommendations for the Academy and associated trips and events.
• Implement and review risk mitigation strategies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Provide safety and security guidance to personnel, students, staff and leadership.
• Prepare and manage resources for critical incident responses.
• Establish and maintain an active information network with stakeholders and private security firms.
• Deliver safety and security training for inductees, students, staff, and security personnel.
• Provide regular security briefings and updates to the School Leadership Team.
• Generate monthly safety and security reports for relevant stakeholders.
• Investigate and analyze security incidents and advise on preventive measures.
• Serve as the focal point for gathering and analyzing security-related information.
• Monitor political and security events relevant to the academy.
• Assist in updating policies and procedures.
• Prepare situational analysis briefings and contingency planning advice.

• A recognized qualification in security studies or risk management (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• At least 5 years of experience in safety and security operations at a similar level.

Role Summary

The French/Kiswahili teacher plays a pivotal role in fostering language learning as a vehicle for thought, reflection, self-expression, and cross-disciplinary integration. Role Summary
The Student Support Coordinator plays a pivotal role in leading the identification and mitigation of barriers to student success at the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi. The coordinator collaborates with staff, parents, and external agencies to devise, implement, and evaluate interventions that support students' academic and personal development, aiming to enhance IB learning outcomes. This role requires a proactive approach to fostering a supportive environment, promoting student well-being, and ensuring every student has the resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Academy.
• Collaborate with students, parents/carers, and staff to address pastoral and learning needs for optimal student outcomes.
• Coordinate and implement intervention strategies for students facing barriers to learning.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external agencies to facilitate timely support for students.

The position

The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKES, Kenya) operates 5 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both national and international curricula. Role Summary.

The position

The Legal Officer is responsible for the efficient administration of the company, particularly regarding compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will have close working association with external lawyers and auctioneers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of tenants’ letters of offer and licenses.
• Review third party agreements to protect the group’s interests.
• Oversee the lease registration process to ensure legal compliance.

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university, minimum 3 years post admission as Advocate of High Court of Kenya with valid practicing certificate.

Position Summary
The Head Teacher will be responsible for the pedagogical, curricular and administrative leadership and management of the senior section of the Academy and will support the school’s positioning as an IB World School of excellence, working towards making it an integral part of the AKAN one school vision. S/he will drive the academic and extra-curricular programmes at the school, provide leadership and oversee day-to-day operations of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• In consultation with the AKESK Leadership team, the Head Teacher will develop annual objectives, and implement a school development plan, as well as quality indicators that ensure the delivery of high-quality education leading to students fulfilling their educational potential.
• Monitor school, staff and student performance and conduct school self-evaluation and provide AKES Kenya with regular reports on progress achieved against strategic and operational goals.
• Strengthen the implementation, continued performance and success of the IB curriculum and monitor the MYP and DP action plans, enabling the school to become a model school in the implementation of this outstanding curriculum.
• Ensure systems are in place to meet and maintain authorisation requirements for the IBO,  including the development and implantation of the action plans (in partnership with the Academy’s Leadership Team); track students’ progress through the school, and identify areas where students need additional support to ensure every student achieves or exceeds their academic target.
