Position Purpose

• The Disaster Risk Reduction and Multi-Dimensional Resilience Specialist will work in the SDG MPTF Kenya Secretariat for the full range of the UNCT Kenya with its 24 agencies and support conducive collaboration with all stakeholders at all levels in Kenya to facilitate and support joint action and pooled funding and financing under the Fund and thereby strengthen the overall deliverables of the Kenya UNCT to achieve the priorities outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Kenya 2022-2026 as regards Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and multi-dimensional resilience. The Specialist will also support the SDG MPTF Fund Board and the RC on matters related to DRR, multi-dimensional resilience and the humanitarian/development nexus and be the RCO focal person for Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Support to accelerate joint action and joint funding of the UNCT Kenya under the SDG MPTF Kenya for the UNSDCF Kenya. 

• Support the design and implementation of joint programmes and planning/results reporting processes of the SDG MPTF Kenya and the UNSDCF (with particular focus on Strategic Priority 2 "Prosperity and Planet") in close collaboration with all actors, including the UNCT, the Kenyan government, International Financing Institutions, development partners, private sector and a broad range of stakeholders.
• Support to the SDG MPTF Kenya to drive conducive financing and institutional mechanisms in Kenya for DRR and resilience, to deliver the objectives in the UNSDCF. The incumbent will work together with the government (both national and county level) and a broad range of stakeholders including multilateral entities, international funds and the SDG Partnership Platform to support the mutual synergy and coordination on financing and investments.
• Support networks with a broad range of actors in Kenya for the UNCT important for DRR and multi-dimensional resilience in Kenya (CSOs, Council of Governors, academia, international financial institutions, private sector etc) and drive the agenda forward
• In close collaboration with the humanitarian UNCT members, support the RC, the Fund Board and the UNCT to advice and facilitate on issues related to ASALs, the repatriation of refugees and the future of the refugee camps in Kenya, and assist the RC, together with OCHA, in ensuring overall coherence on humanitarian action and the humanitarian/development nexus.

Policy Level Input & Development Coordination.

• Monitor, analyze and support the SDG MPTF Board, RC and the UNCT on the policy development in Kenya as regards DRR, multi-dimensional resilience and the humanitarian/development nexus; identify problems and possibilities to be addressedand propose actions;liaise with relevantparties and identifyand track followup actions accordingly

Focal point and adviser to the RC and UNCT on issues related to DRR, resilience, the ASALs, humanitarian issues and PSEA

• Ensure facilitation and coordination of the PSEA work done by all agencies in the UNCT.

Data and Knowledge Management:

• Ensure and coordinate data and results reporting processes as relevant under the Fund, including for the UNSDCF and for UNINFO.
• The incumbent may be required to travel to conferences and workshops related to the position and is also expected to contribute to the overall work done by the Fund and the RCO as need be to realize the objectives of the UNSDCF

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

• Advanced university degree in disaster risk management, engineering, social science, environment and/or climate studies, public administration, international studies, rural development, and management or a discipline relevant to disaster risk management related field is required. 
• A first- level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years (with Master’s degree) or seven (7) years (with Bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience in disaster risk management, humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, or other related area is required.

Job Purpose:

• Under the overall supervision of the Maternal Health Thematic Fund (MHTF) Coordinator, the MNH Partnerships and Advocacy Specialist will help to strengthen strategic partnerships and coordination mechanisms for a range of organizations and actors working on midwifery and human resources for health, EmONC and MNH service delivery, PHC and UHC including NGOs, government partners, UN agencies and other national and international organizations.
• This specialist will also contribute to the development of communications and advocacy materials and document best practices and lessons learned in MNH, particularly related to midwifery, the EmONC network approach, service delivery redesign in the context of PHC and UHC.
• The MNH Partnership and Advocacy Specialist duties include:  building and sustaining partnerships, advocacy and communications, event and information management.

Building and Sustaining Partnerships 

• Support the establishment and coordination of a new inter-agency, multi-sectoral midwifery coordination platform linked to EPMM-EPMM 
• Support the coordination of the MHTF flagship initiative Global Midwifery Acceleration Roadmap

Job Purpose:

• This Specialist plays a vital role in providing technical guidance to support conceptualization and implementation of comprehensive SRHR and MNH policy and programming within and beyond the MHTF, while ensuring that different contexts and realities are taken into account, without compromising the mandate of UNFPA and the evidence base. The Specialist focuses on integrating comprehensive abortion care into the comprehensive approach to SRHR, primarily through linkages with EmONC and midwifery programming, to increase access to safe abortion care to the full extent of the law, and post-abortion care everywhere in line with the ICPD PoA and UNFPA mandate. The Specialist will build close relationships with stakeholders internally and externally to support best practice in SRHR and MNH programming and policy and to ensure ownership across global, regional and country level. 

This post is responsible for:
Conceptualization and implementation of comprehensive SRHR and MNH programming and advocacy

• Identify opportunities to and support the implementation of the comprehensive SRHR package of interventions in existing programs, within and beyond the health system
• Support capacity strengthening and knowledge management and building on UNFPA’s work and position related to unsafe abortion, post abortion care and comprehensive abortion care
• Review country program documents and country work plans for SRHR integration and comprehensive programming
• Develop indicators for SRHR integration to add to the existing MHTF results indicator framework and other relevant indicator frameworks
• Provide technical input to tools, guidance, and related documentation developed by other technical units
• Seek and establish partnerships with civil society, academia, other UN agencies and professional associations to ensure multi-stakeholder ownership of the implementation of different components of the SRHR package

• Provide technical support to focal countries and other ROs/COs (according to needs/requests) related to comprehensive abortion care in line with UNFPA mandate
• Contribute to build capacity on Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT) modalities as a tool for more effective and quality implementation of comprehensive SRHR programs at global, regional and country level to deliver excellence in program results.
• Provide relevant input to the community of practice on MNH/SRHR 
• Disseminate and provide assistance to the implementation of policy and guidance documents at global, regional and country level

Job Summary

• The Senior Technical Advisor, Food Security and Water System, will be part of a dynamic VSLA team that leads CARE's expansion of access to financial services across the globe. The team is made up of specialists who provide holistic support services to CARE initiatives working with CARE's trademark Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) model, including supporting country office and regional scale-up strategy development; co-creating programs and project designs; contributing to and/or leading proposal and fundraising efforts; providing technical support to project start-up and implementation; and supporting CARE's efforts to continually learn from and improve our initiatives; supporting connections between CARE's work in communities and regional, national, and international advocacy efforts.
• The position affords its occupant unparallel opportunities to influence the work of CARE and the financial inclusion sector as a whole. The primary responsibility of the position is to support the integration and expansion of CARE's VSLA work within the organization's broader programming, with a specific focus on food and nutrition security, climate change resilience programming, and the water systems portfolio. The position would also work with country offices across regions to further their integration of VSLAs within their programming and layering of other services on VSLA as a platform, develop strategies, and strengthen their advocacy and partnership work so that CARE remains at the forefront of the donor and policy landscape in each country. • The Senior Technical Advisor, VSLA/FSW, supports the VSLA global team in leveraging the power of VSLA to improve the agriculture-based livelihoods of the majority of VSLA members and their households. He will collaborate with technical specialists across disciplines to advance evidence-based interventions that deliver meaningful change for low-income, food-insecure households. S/he will advocate for the transformative work and incremental impacts of our VSLA to both internal and external audiences and serve as one of the team's points of contact for VSLA integration, layering, and sequencing.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Programme Quality for Greater VSLA Scale and Impact

• Coordinate the formulation and conceptualization of CARE’s VSLA programming integration overarching strategy and road map in layering and sequencing activities that reflect organizational program quality ambitions for VSLA at different levels, taking into consideration women's voices through their VSLAs.
• Support the organization on new and active activities to integrate and/or layer VSLAs, with agricultural livelihoods, and develop tools and approaches that champion global VSLA scale-up strategy alongside other organizational strategies
• Serve as the primary VSLA/Financial inclusion contributor to CARE's various food and nutrition security strategies with VSLA as a core programming element.
• Work closely with other TAs and regional or country teams to identify and cultivate partnerships with the private sector that aligns with CARE's programming objectives.

Technical Assistance to Specific Projects and Initiatives

• Provide technical support and capacity building to CARE teams and partners (public, private, non-profit) to ensure projects are effectively delivered and continually improved with high quality outcomes.
• Potentially serve as project director on select grants, coordinating planning and implementation of project activities and overseeing all aspects of program quality (programmatic, financial, administrative, personnel). • In collaboration with CARE global, COs, and other stakeholders, prioritize solutions to develop, test, and scale.
• Keep track of and disseminate VSLA integration, layering, and sequencing lessons learned, including current thought processes and best practices for use by both non-specialist and specialist colleagues' and to strengthen future work and inform CAR's evidence base.
• Lead the development and the roll out of the Global Best Practices /Standard Operating Procedures/Tools for VSLA integration and program quaity.
• Participate in monitoring and supporting supervisory field visits and evaluation activities, including process, market, and impacts monitoring, and collect learning and feedback to strengthen the CARES FSW work.
• Collaborate closely with CARE USA's FSW and COs to document the best practices and lessons learned regarding their FSW flagship programs and how to maximize best to deepen impact where VSLAs are used as service delivery platforms.

Resource Mobilization and New Business Development

• Engage with colleagues across the region, particularly regional and country-level directors and assistant directors, to conceptualize new initiatives aligned with regional and national strategies and the financial inclusion learning agenda

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Programmatic Duties

• Oversee and coordinate implementation of programme activities by Mentors including grant distributions, trainings, with support from the Program Manager.
• Target and identify eligible households for the REAP – LIFT Programme through Participatory methodologies and adapted participants targeting tools (including sustainable business screening and guideline) based on the set
• Orient Locational Committees members in the REAP – LIFT Programme locations and collaborate with them on targeting and implementation.

• The position will lead in grant acquisition and management. Actively build donor relationship in support of acquisition. The job holder will lead program and proposal development and design for high-value, competitive, complex funding opportunities, in line with WV strategy. Essential

• The post-holder will work with WCS Global Marine Program to support a variety of conservation and science-based projects in the coastal socio-ecological systems of several countries and data collected over the years from the wider Western Indian Ocean (WIO). The post-holder will be responsible for managing all WCS Global Marine databases (fisheries, coral reef ecological and socioecoomic) and the associated metadata. He/She will work with scientists, and project coordinators to source, analyze, and disseminate data supporting conservation work, communication, informing planning efforts, conservation policy, and delivering project outputs. They will also provide technical assistance to researchers to design data collection methods and to conduct research in fisheries, marine protected areas and coral reef related projects amongst others.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

• Maintain WCS Global Marine Program coral reef ecological, fisheries, socioeconomic, and other databases;

Overall purpose of the role:  

The Economic Recovery Officer, in conjunction with the Team Leader, will ensure effective project component activity implementation oversight, monitoring and evaluation in Dagahaley Camp and the neighboring communities. This position works closely with other livelihoods team colleagues to ensure an integrated approach in beneficiary targeting, activity execution, assessments and feedback. The role also liaises closely with stakeholders located in international and national NGOs, county/national governments and community leadership structures to ensure effective service-delivery, participation and added value. This position provides technical support for Vocational Skills Development and Drylands Agriculture across all the camps and host community locations.

Responsibilities: 
R1. Project Management and Development:

• Participate in project planning & implementation including activity, budgeting and procurement/logistics planning 
• Develop and maintain detailed implementation plans to deliver program to agreed timeline and milestones
• Ensure all project activities are implemented on time and in line with the set-out work-plans
• Promote collaboration and synergy between refugee focused interventions and the host communities
• Prepare and conduct community sensitization forums/meetings with community leaders and beneficiaries in the refugee and host community set up
• Document lessons learned from training activities, community meeting and assist in preparing training reports
• Promoting business/farm group development through support, coaching, mentoring, regular feedback and identification of investment needs and opportunities.

R2. Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation:

• Keep accurate records of events and activities including meeting/class/training attendance.

Overall purpose of the role: 

The Peacebuilding Assistant will play key roles in implementing the Social Cohesion project in Kalobeyei/Kakuma. He/she will work directly with Refugee community in Kalobeyei Settlement/Kakuma and host community within the project area and local authorities to strengthen their capacity to improve safety at the community level. This includes, but is not limited to conducting assessments to cases of insecurity claims, facilitating community dialogues on conflict, provide training on conflict management and support the strengthening of community – formal security provider relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Act as primary link between the assigned target communities and DRC;
• Coordinate with local authorities/community leaders during identification of project beneficiaries in target areas in accordance with DRC selection criteria and process;
• Support in mobilization of community leaders to UNHCR and agency meetings 
• Liaise with community leaders and local government authorities about the safety in the assigned target communities (i.e. community entry); 
• Conduct conflict assessment/analysis when required and provide sufficient recommendations.  
• Conduct assessments to individuals with safety and security related concerns. The assessments should be focused on identifying and mitigating the escalation of individual conflicts into the wider community.
• Facilitate dialogue and other activities aimed at reducing armed violence and including activities to strengthen local conflict management capacity and to promote better collaboration between local communities and formal security providers.

Overall purpose of the role

• Under the management of the 4Mi Project Manager for Eastern & Southern Africa| Egypt and Yemen, and the supervision of the 4Mi Project Specialist in Nairobi, the officer supports data collection activities by 4Mi enumerators and supports project implementation in East and Southern Africa, Egypt and Yemen.
