Job Summary

This job is responsible for operations and maintenance of power plants, and their auxiliaries. control room operations, electrical equipment maintenance, instrumentation and the power system protection.

Job Description

Key duties and responsibilities:

The job holder will be responsible for the following duties.

  • Carrying out scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on equipment
  • Carrying out calibration of all monitoring equipment
  • Installing, testing, and commissioning new or refurbished plant equipment and systems
  • Carrying out regular safety inspections; interpreting technical drawings as per work requirement
  • Carrying out diagnostics and troubleshooting of faults of the plant and auxiliaries
  • Monitoring and regulating machine load, voltage, frequency, and dam reservoir levels.
  • Liaison with National Control Center (NCC)
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Educational Requirements Job Experience/Qualifications

  • Must be a holder of O-level certificate with a mean score of C (plain) and at least a C- (Minus) and above in Mathematics and Physics subjects.
  • Diploma in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and a final certificate from the national examining body (KNEC)
  • Registration as a certified engineering technician with KETRB/EBK is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in computer application skills.
  • Experience in a production or electricity generating environment is an added advantage.
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
