Overall purpose of the role:

Under the Supervision of the Protection Team Leader – Child Protection, the incumbent will be in charge of CPIMS+ ensuring compliance with relevant child protection standards including Data Sharing procedures of the children details. S/he will provide technical support to all children protection staff on CPIMS+ as well as support M&E providing statistical reports of child protection activities.  S/he will directly take active role in ensuring the system is functional.   

Responsibilities: 
R1. Child protection Case Management:

  • Ensure the Child Protection Information Management System [CPIMS+] Database being used effectively as a case management tool in line with confidentiality and information sharing protocols. 
  • Customize the CPIMS+ as required to ensure its relevance to the context in Kakuma Refugee Camp. 
  • Produce timely progress reports on activities conducted, including both quantitative and qualitative information, in the camp and provide input into regular situation reports. 
  • Assist Child Protection Officers and case workers ensuring that accurate data entry, providing training and capacity-building for child protection and other staff as required.
  • Ensure Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+) data tools are designed to meet the needs of children in Kakuma refugee camp and Kalobeyei Settlement.
  • Regularly monitor the quality of data being input into the CPIMS+, locate and correct data entry and form completion errors. 
  • Maintain logs of activities and completed work. 
  • Responsible for the management of electronic and hardcopy information relating to the case management cycle, including the administration of the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+) database and providing training and capacity-building for child protection staffs on the use and linkage between case management cycle and Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+)
  • Ensure the Child Protection Information Management System [CPIMS+] Database being used effectively as a case management tool in line with confidentiality and information sharing protocols. 

R2. Training & Capacity development:

  • Training and capacity-building for child protection and other partners on information management systems
  • Carry out trainings that build child and community capacity. 
  • Mentor and provide ongoing technical support to staff directly involved in case management and taking responsibility for personal learning and competence development. 

R3. Data Analysis and reporting:

  • Generate routine reports from CPIMS+, and be responsible for data analysis of Children Protection issues and trends. 
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies and other key stakeholders to respond to systemically to issues that impact child safety and well-being through information sharing. 
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly and feature reports as required and/or contribute to those being prepared by the Officer. 
  • Liaise as required with agencies performing related work, including FTR and partner agencies supporting the ongoing development of the CPIMS+ system. 
  • Assist in formulation of proposals outlining on the needs of children in Kakuma refugee camp, and participate in broader protection initiatives as relevant. 
  • Review of work-plans and participation in drafting of reports and proposal development including logical framework.

R4. Data protection:

  • Ensure protection of assets (Data management devices) and confidential data storage for both physical and software documents in appropriate secure locations. 
  • Actively protect children in every aspect of work and personal life, by preventing harm and reporting child abuse.

R5. Coordination & Partnership:

  • Assist Child Protection Officers in maintaining strong working relationship with all stakeholders including the Government Children Officer, County government, UN agencies and other humanitarian agencies working on CP.
  • Participate in community events and celebrations that promote child rights and participation.
  • Assist Child Protection Officers in formulating of case management tools. 

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or a related field from a recognized institution. 
  • 2 years continuous work experience in data management, preferably in an NGO dealing with child protection/or human rights refugee or related organization. Practical experience of CPIMS+ is added advantage. 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of IT systems and packages including Microsoft Office and SPSS software. 
  • Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in the work place; 
  • Ability to work for long hours with minimal supervision. 
  • Good team player with excellent interpersonal communication skill. 
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills. 
  • Ability to work independently with guidelines and clear expectations. 

Education: 

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in (IT, or any other related courses)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
