The jobholder is responsible for processing insurance claims in line with set policy guidelines.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ascertaining that claims are reported in good time and that documentation is properly done
  • Analysing claims and supporting documents for verification of validity.
  • Ensuring prompt registration and acknowledgement of reported claims
  • Reviewing claim reports and recommending settlement in line with policy liability and circumstances of loss
  • Ensuring prompt processing for settlement on all fully documented and concluded claims and seeking approval for payment within the agreed timeframes and approval levels
  • Consulting and advising on issues regarding claims management.
  • Carrying out Insurance Risk Surveys fronted by Insurance Companies
  • Implementing policy terms and conditions recommended by the surveyors for risk improvement
  • Assisting in the annual tendering process for Insurance brokerage services and negotiate competitive premium rates with the successful firms
  • Providing procedural advise to staff regarding insurance covers placed.
  • Maintaining the underwriting register, records, and files.
  • Reviewing and maintaining policy documents in the insurance department
  • Implementing KenGen management policy on assets and manpower
  • Drafting periodic status reports
  • Ensuring implementation and compliance with relevant ISO standards and procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with company safety policy and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Educational Requirements Job Experience/Qualifications

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -

  • Bachelors Degree in Insurance or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in computer use and applications.
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
