Specific Responsibilities Include

In close collaboration with the EA Senior Facilitator, EA Hub staff, EA partner organizations, and WomenLift design team:

• Design and develop culturally relevant original content based on WomenLift and partner organization’s needs. This includes:
• Assess the needs of partner organizations to drive the content development process 
• Align with WomenLift team and partner organizations on specific goals and outcomes that any module or curriculum is hoping to address 
• Run ideation sessions 
• Conduct research on content topics 
• Design, develop, and finalize for publication all materials for original content modules such as facilitation guides, ppts, speaker notes, workbooks, reference guides, handouts, overviews of materials, etc.
• This includes supporting finalization of other modules developed by WomenLift Health 
• Contextualize and adapt pre-existing content for WomenLift and our partner organizations. 
• As part of the design and contextualization process:
• Use a human-centered design approach 
• Ensure content is relevant to the needs and learning styles of specific institutions, health systems, and cultures. 
• Track the changes made to pre-developed content in our contextualization mapping systems 
• Reference our glossary and style guide for language guidance 
• Share learnings and insights with the team throughout the process 
• Identify and respond to East Africa Hub needs for the curricula to be expanded or go deeper to meet the needs of the audience 
• Support development of communication materials related to the content 
• Document lessons learned from specific institutions and document the common training needs across different institutions 
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems and processes 
• Stay abreast of new learnings and best practices related to instructional design 

Scope of Work

• Ad hoc, based on project needs.
• Work closely with East Africa Leadership Development and Communications team as well as the Cross-Regional Design team on an as-needed basis.
• Time Frame for Guaranteed Scope of Work: beginning upon hire for 6 months; option to renew depending on performance

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in leadership training curriculum development for diverse, East African audiences 

Expertise on Instructional Design, including:

• Proven ability to independently design and develop curricula as well as processes, systems, and tools to prioritize, adapt, contextualize, and create instructional products for learners across different cultures 
• Knowledge of learning theories and ID models, and how/when to employ them. 
• Ability to apply and adjust ID models, and the skill to improve and refine them for future use. 
• Ability to take a human-centered approach to instruction that places the learner at the center of the experience, matching desired outcomes with the needs of the learners. 
• Have a strong command of the English language as it is written and spoken professionally both within East Africa and internationally 
• Proven ability to collaborate and co-create within teams 
• Depth of experience, maturity and confidence, ability to learn and adapt, befitting an instructional designer 
• Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently while communicating important information and asking questions 
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

POSITION SUMMARY

WomenLift Health is seeking an East Africa Program Lead to work under the direction of the East Africa Program Director and in close collaboration with their teammates around the globe. This position will be responsible for leading the implementation of the East Africa Leadership Journeys and other training modalities. Through facilitated discussions, mentoring, coaching, and hands-on exercises, the Leadership Journey imparts contextualized tools and frameworks to address the individual, organizational, and societal challenges that women leaders in health face today. The inaugural East Africa Leadership Journey kicked off in May 2022 and will scale up to 3 cohorts of 30 women each year by 2025 and up to 4 cohorts a year by 2026. The East Africa Hub will also be taking on additional training modalities for broader audiences.

The Program Lead is a self-starter, a self-driven learner, and relishes co-creating with a cross-cultural team. They must possess strong written and oral communication skills, have a keen eye for detail, organization, and multi-tasking, and enjoy building, implementing, and refining complex processes and systems. The Program Lead should possess a strategic mindset to proactively anticipate opportunities and challenges for strengthening existing programs and preparing for scale. The Program Lead should be observant, emotionally intelligent, cross-culturally competent, possess astute judgment, and exceptional people, project, and relationship management skills. They bring robust public and/or global health experience, knowledge, and networks to the position. This recruitment is for 1 full-time (100% FTE) position and will report to the East Africa Program Director.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with the Eastern Africa Hub Team, successfully implement the annual East-Africa-based Leadership Journeys and other training modalities. This includes:

Key Leadership Journey Operations

• Lead the end-to-end implementation and scale-up of the year-long East Africa-based Leadership Journeys and development of other customized training modalities for broader audiences.
• Finalize implementation plans including Leadership Journey (LJ) calendars, work plans, and tracking key milestones.
• Lead cohort selection, assembly, and onboarding process including all activities from application launch to onboarding and co-facilitating cohort orientation.
• Lead the hub team to finalize the implementation plan and delivery of 2 in-person residencies per cohort for each year-long Journey – an initial 3 to 4-day in-person “Immersion” residency and a closing 2-day in-person “Lift-Off” residency. (These in-person residencies will be held in rotating East African locations that may require travel.)
• Lead end-to-end implementation of LJ virtual touchpoint’s including learning touchpoints, mentoring, coaching, JourneyPlus, and PowerUp Workshops – or any other engagements for broader audiences.
• Lead the use and maintenance of contextualized tools for managing and tracking key milestones, deliverables, and budget according to the established program timeline for the hub.
• Refine and manage systems to track, support, evaluate, and find synergies between cohort members’ Leadership Projects (LPs).
• Bring relevant public and/or global health knowledge/experience to leadership project support during office hours; Contribute to the thought leadership of cohort members by staying up to date with key shifts, priorities, and trends in the public and global health domain.
• Moderate and/or facilitate select regional events when needed (interview panels or events that do not require leadership skills expertise)
• Lead program monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) efforts for the East Africa Hub in collaboration with the MEL Lead and partner (BIXAL) by reviewing, and refining core metrics of the Leadership Journey; Promote value of MEL with the cohort to ensure completion of all survey instruments and use findings to strengthen the Leadership Journey overtime.
• Collaborate with WomenLift Health communications teammates to develop messaging and materials for Leadership Journeys and other training modalities.
• Collaborate closely with communications teammates to amplify the visibility of women leaders in cohorts by identifying impactful speakers, stories, and Leadership Projects across cohorts; Contribute to the narrative that investing in women’s leadership advances health impact through the development of blogs and other thought pieces.  
• Share learnings and best practices on Leadership Journey implementation systems with cross-regional team.
• Actively contribute to and/or facilitate cross-regional ideation, brainstorming in the creation of new systems, processes, and modalities for the LJ.
• Create and iterate on region-specific best practices for quality assurance, process improvements, and leveraging technology.

Institutional Influence

• Contribute to the development and implementation of institutional influence engagements based in East Africa in close partnership with the Leadership Development Functional team.  
• Strengthen WomenLift Health’s institutional network with the aim of amplifying visibility opportunities for cohort members and their Leadership Projects or more.

Team and Relationship Management

• Manage direct reports, support their needs, and strengthen their contribution by actively training them to take on more ownership and responsibility for tasks.
• Build and maintain relationships with Leadership Journey stakeholders (and recruit as needed) including selection committee members, facilitators, mentors, coaches, leadership project reviewers, guest speakers, and core delivery partners.   
• Lead and/or actively contribute to cross-functional learning and sharing within the region and identify opportunities and challenges to surface cross-regionally.
• Intentionally build and maintain relationships with cohort members from the onset of the Leadership Journey by holding 1:1 office hours and proactively responding to their needs throughout the Leadership Journey.
• Create a safe and trusted space for engagement with cohort members and role model the competencies being developed in the Leadership Journey.

• Master’s degree in a related field
• Minimum 12 years of work experience with at least 5+ years working in public or global health.

Position Summary

• WomenLift Health is looking for a skilled Graphics Designer with creativity and technical proficiency to handle graphic design and animation tasks. This role involves the entire design process, from defining requirements to creating visuals like illustrations, logos, infographics, and more. As a graphic designer, you'll be responsible for shaping the visual elements of various media, such as websites, digital campaigns, printed materials, and exhibitions. The goal is to create captivating graphics that effectively convey the intended message and engage the target audience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams or clients on a wide range of materials, including web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing materials.
• Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
• Develop concepts by hand or with software and execute original content by determining the ideal color, text, font style, imagery, and layout usage.
• Manage the design and uploading process for all project materials based on best practices for using a content management system.
• Use trend intelligence and knowledge of historical and current markets when designing and executing specific classifications.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop storyboards for digital campaigns.
• Test graphics across various media and amend designs based on feedback.

• This position will ensure the engagement of FP partners, appropriate tailoring of the established leadership curricula to reflect FP priorities and issues and the design of a select number of FP specific sessions including speaker's events. This position is contingent upon award from the donor.

Assignment Description

Leadership Journey

• Provide support to the Director to engage partners, select candidates, and launch the Family Planning (FP) and Contraceptive Access Leadership Journey and its related activities.
• Work with the facilitator to support the integration of FP and Contraceptive access language and stories to contextualize the leadership training curricula.
• Support the Director to stay connected with evolving challenges and priorities in the FP and Contraceptive Access, especially as these may apply to the leadership training program
• Provide concrete support to the implementation of the Leadership Journey, including serving on the selection committee, identifying FP speakers and mentors, and potentially supporting the development of leadership projects of the women in the cohort.

Partner engagement

• Create a database of partners in the FP and Contraceptive access sector in East and Southern Africa.
• Support Partner engagement in the thematic leadership cycle through the process of cohort nomination, selection, launch and the leadership journey offerings.
• Support a Working Group comprised of FP and Contraceptive access partners, donor, and Women Lift Health staff. The objective of the Working Group is to engage, get guidance on the design and develop the buy-in of these key partners for the FP leadership program.

Monitoring Evaluation and Learning

• Work with SPM and MEL Lead to design, implement a plan to track data/results related to FP and Contraceptive access thematic leadership journey
• Support the SPM in data collection, analysis and development of conclusions and recommendations to further strengthen thematic leadership journey implementation.
• Document and maintain an inventory of successful tools and approaches for FP and contraceptive access
• Support development of abstracts and presentations for journals and conference for the cohort and Women Lift Health
