ABOUT THE ROLE

Key responsibilities for the role include:

• Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
• Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work and lesson plans that meet the social, physical and emotional needs of the children.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Key responsibilities for the role include:

• Work with the Dean of Students to create a vision for the sports program and invest stakeholders in the vision. 
• Execute appropriate activities for the children in every session according to the curriculum, schemes of work and lesson plans.
• Deliver activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games.
• Instruct students individually and in groups, while applying the appropriate teaching method suited for a given group or individual. 
• Assimilate student culture activities and support children and teachers strengthen areas assigned e.g. transition, arrival, dismissal, playtime, serving lunch etc.
• Calendar fixtures and sports training programmes for students and accompany teams as a chaperone or coach on sports-related trips and competitions.
• Scout for opportunities for students to participate and compete in various sporting activities and friendlies by creating new  and supporting existing partnerships with schools.
• Plan and execute inter-house/class competitions for sports every term and the annual Sports Day.
• Conduct PD and briefing for teammates for sports-related activities e.g. events or initiatives
• Ensure  appropriate  preparation and management of all competitions and matches.  
• Develop strong school teams to represent the school in competitions.
• Develop training programs for all the training sessions in accordance with the school guidelines.

• Maintain an inventory of sports equipment and work with the Dean of Students to procure all needed  sports equipment.

• Observe, assess and file records/reports in hard and soft copy of the children’s progress and development for the Principal, other school leaders and parents.
• Monitor the academic performance of the players and always ensure high standards are met.

• Ensure simple first aid procedures are done to injured students during sporting activities.
• Affirm positive behaviour and flag negative behaviour to maintain order by documenting concerns and incidences, and ensure follow up is made with support from the line manager.

• Practice and model NP culture to stakeholders in the school community.

Skills and Qualifications required:

• Must have TSC certification and a relevant degree in Sports/ Recreational Science with PGDE (second subject IT preferred)
• Required 1-3 years experience in a similar position working with young children/ teenagers
• Trained and certified in basic first aid
• Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students.

ABOUT YOU

• Be a culture champion for our Primary & International School by spearheading school student culture events within the school's vision and annual theme
• Engage with the many stakeholders who make up Nova Pioneer community in the following ways:

Students

• Manages the student’s government programmes including elections, induction, training, activities and offboarding. 
• Provides safe channels for students to share feedback/ideas and address their concerns via student hours.
• Manages the student happiness survey process (scheduling, administration, data analysis and leveraging data to improve students’ experience).
• Leads student mentoring/buddy programmes to strengthen student relationships
• Provides structures for celebrating students who are living and leading NP Culture
• Coordinates student onboarding. Onboard new students and orient continuing students to new expectations as they progress from one level to the next 
• In conjunction with the Deputy School Leader, owns the implementation of the contents of the Student Code of Conduct handbook and related policies 
• Coordinates the school’s daily routine from arrival to dismissal, ensuring the baraza and recess schedule is clearly mapped out and implemented. 
• Leads health and safety activities: lead the health and safety committee, plan and coordinate emergency drills, first aid training for all teammates and students, etc. 
• Tracks and maintains high levels of student safety, health and wellness 
• Understands how to support students in managing behaviour expectations using restorative approach and guides instructional leads on how to apply SEL

Parents 

• Manages the family satisfaction survey process (scheduling, administration, data analysis and leveraging data to improve students’ experience).
• Onboards new families and offboards families exiting the school.  
• Works with Administrative staff and Admissions to coordinate and track new enrollments/ joiners. 
• Coordinates beginning of year student onboarding activities such as Week Zero.

Academic & Student Affairs’ Teams 

• Conducts PDs and trains teachers on managing student behaviour and building student character.
• Is the primary owner of Student Leadership Development: Creates plans and systems for teaching student leadership development to Novaneers, including supporting rollout with teachers, training and development for teachers, and observation and feedback on implementation.
• Coaches and manages the Student Affairs team that comprises the School Nurses and School Counsellors
• Works with the School Counsellors and teachers to create individual student behaviour plans and student support plans.
• Coordinates school duty rotas and other relevant student life experiences (non-academic) e.g. health and safety; school culture e.g. dismissal; transitions; safety drills e.g. fire drills, etc.
• Any other duties as assigned by your Manager

• Observing emotional behavior and referring them to the school counselor.
• Help the students maintain the cleanliness of their dorm rooms.
• Report any cases of sickness to the Dean of Residential Life
• Implementing the residential schedules for the students.
• Supervision of the student’s hygiene and neatness.
• Keeping records and reports of residential issues/occurrences within their assigned spaces.
• Executing any other duty that may be assigned to him by the dean of residential life
• Communicate regularly with the Dean of Residential Life regarding student behavior in the dorm area.
• To live in and supervise the dormitory.

Leading School Culture

• Working with the Principal to articulate a compelling short- and long-term vision for the development of the school’s culture and program
• Setting and modelling a consistent tone of highest expectations, joy, and growth mindset
• Leading key school rituals as needed to model and ingrain culture through setting up culture committees and mentorship programs
• Quickly identifying and responding to classroom/school culture or behavior issues
• Engaging with the many stakeholders who make up Nova Pioneer community- parents, students and teachers by:
• Coordinating and planning parent events, fora and seminars
• Writing parent communication and serving as first point of contact on parent queries and concerns
